SLAMDANCE FILM FESTIVAL: A film festival by filmmakers for filmmakers that focuses on work by first time American independent filmmakers. The festival takes submissions of feature length and short films begining in June for January festival in Park City, UTAH. Also takes script submissions for screenplay competition. MUSEUMS/CULTURAL ORGS. The Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage is devoted to preserving and interpreting the rich history and traditions of the American West. One of the most comprehensive collections of western history and art. Monthly Western film screenings. This society is dedicated to preserving Hollywood's landmarks. They operate a  musuem in Lasky Famous Players "barn" near the Hollywood Bowl. They also produce events relating to Hollywood's Heritage -- booksigning, talks & film screenings. There is a silent film society component to the organization. The Los Angeles Conservancy works to preserve and revitalize Greater Los Angeles' Architectural Heritage. Each June/July they hold a weekly film event called Last Remaining Seats which utilizes the movie palaces in Los Angeles' downtown theatre district near Broadway. Drawing on the illustrious history of the Great Panorama Paintings of the 18th and 19th centuries, The Velaslavasay PANORAMA in Hollywood is an exhibition rotunda and garden dedicated to the production and presentation of unusual visual experiences of the 360 degree variety.
VINTAGE CULTURE A fascinating look at the archeaological efforts to recover the mammoth, Egyptian sets from Cecil B.
